Mimouna Feast⁣

Project Type

Ceramics

Date

June 2021

Techniques

3D modeling, CNC milling, plaster molding, slip casting, wheel throwing and slab building

In collaboration with

Michal Hava Levi-Gur

Our set of dishes appertain to the Mimouna ceremony (a traditional Maghrebi Jewish celebration dinner), from our experience of the holiday in the shadow of the coronavirus disease: intimate, small, and familial.⁣
The dishes preserve and support the traditional elements but at the same time seek to reformulate the Mimouna on which we grew up.⁣
On the table you can find the Muffleta holders - personal serving utensils that characterize the Mimouna and are made of porcelain and decorated with gold, recurring units of serving plates inspired by ceramic tiles and Moroccan decorations, from which a modular pattern can be made on the table, as well as Moroccan-style mugs and teapot with a decoration that is expressed again in the serving plates, intended for serving the rest of the holiday delicacies.⁣
