Time

Time can be an elusive thing.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣We can find different definitions of the term “time”. Time can be perceived as anything from an autonomous entity to an entity connected to materials and consciousness. ⁣⁣⁣
Referring to time in the context of a particular place, throughout history, is a game changer that blends our feelings and emotions.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣“Bāb al-ʿĀmūd”, The Damascus Gate, is considered to be the most beautiful and impressive gate among the Ottoman Empire Jerusalem gates.⁣⁣⁣
The arena of the gate contains stairs, stairs which on good days operate as the central way leading to Jewish and Muslim places of worship and tribal gatherings, and during times of conflict these stairs symbolize Jerusalem’s division and disagreements.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣In this project I was inspired by these stairs, their shape and contour from an overhead view, and their composed and decomposed elements, like assembling a puzzle, that create the dial clock. ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣I pray for a time in which we will be able to share such places and settle any disagreement and disputes, and that we will gather together as brothers and sisters with mutual respect.⁣⁣⁣
